Disassembly (and cleaning)

Bass Strings removed.

All strings off.

 

Tuning Pins removed.

 

Plate off. Notice the keybed at the top of this picture.

 

Soundboard cleaned.

Keybed removed (for cleaning – and re-gluing!)

 

All of the legs had bad glue joints, so they were all re-glued.

The pedal trapwork was a little wonky. Not only were the bushings worn out, but one of the springs, (the one on the right), had been repositioned so that it actually worked the opposite way it was intended to work!

 

So I took everything apart, cleaned and lubricated it, replaced the bushings, and put it back together the way God (or Knabe) intended.

 

The cleaned (and re-glued) keybed re-installed.
