Today I notched and re-pinned the new bridges, and did the final re-installation of the plate. Pretty soon it will be strung and playing again!
Here’s a closeup of the first stage in the notching process. The notches are marked with a chisel, a small cut is made with a very fine saw, and then the notch is carved out with a sharp chisel.

Here’s a pic of the notches all done. Next, the new bridge pins were hammered in, and then filed flat on the top so that they are all the same height. Here’s a closeup:

The last thing I did today (in fact just a few minutes ago), was to drop the plate in and screw it all down.
